How Do I Register my Child?
There are two ways to register. You can register online through the link above or you can register your child at our walk-in date. Online registration will accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Cash and checks will only be accepted at our walk-in registration dates. You are able to download the registration forms from our website and complete ahead of time. If this is the first time registering with our league, you will be required to submit a copy of your child’s birth certificate which will be kept in our league office.
What does my registration fee entail?
Our registration fee covers playing seasons for both the Fall ‘12 season (Sept – Nov 2012) and the Spring ‘13 (April – June 2013) seasons. Our intramural players will receive a Lindenhurst Soccer trophy at the end of the spring 2012 season. Plesae note, our league policy is that we do not offer refunds for regsitration and/or uniforms.
Our intramural players will be able to participate in our league winter programs during the “off season” at no addtional cost to the families. Our winter programs will also have a special “tournament” for each specific age group. Our tournament will highlight the skills and efforts of our players. More details will be announced later this fall.
What if I only want to register for one season only – not both?
Our registration is for both the fall 2011 and spring 2012 season – you register once for both. If you only want to play in the spring season, please be advised that we may offer a limited spring registration. If offered, this will be on a first-come, first-serve basis to fill-in “open roster” spots. There is no guarantee of placement and/or team/divison.
What equipment is required for my child to play?
Each child must wear shin guards to each practice as well as each game. Before the start of each game the referee will check to insure that each child is wearing shin guards. A league uniform is required for each player at the games. Soccer cleats are recommended but not required. No baseball or football cleats are allowed at any time. Sweatshirts/sweatpants are permitted under the uniform, however, no hooded sweatshirts are allowed. No jewelry or earrings (even pierced) are allowed during game time.
Does my child need to bring a soccer ball to practice and if so, what size is needed?
A soccer ball should be brought to all practices. Children in the U5-U6 will play with a Size 3 ball which is approximately 23″ – 24″ round; U7-8 players will use a size 4 ball.
My child played with the league last year, do I need a new uniform?
No. However, if you need replacement pieces, they can be ordered separately through our uniform vendor – Murphys’ Sport Shack. They are conveniently located in Babylon Village on Deer Park Avenue and they are open 7 days per week for your convenience. The cost of a uniform package is $30 per player. This includes one pair of league shorts, one league shirt and one pair of soccer socks. NOTE: Players moving from the Intramural to Interleague divisions (beginning at the U9 age group) will need to purchase an additional “away” shirt.
How and when are teams formed? Who coaches the teams?
After registration closes on June 30th, the work of our Intramural Director really begins. We go through all the registrations and look for parents who have stepped up and volunteered to coach. After the coaches have been identified then, and only then, can we assign players to teams. If there are not enough coaches, our Intramural Director will begin to reach out to all registrered player’s families asking for volunteers to coach. Again, we cannot continue with forming teams and scheduling games until we have enough coaches for each division. Please help your children and the other children in the leauge by offering to coach for our league.
When and where are games played?
Our Intramural Division play at our fields in Shore Road Park. Games are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays. Schedules are provided at the beginning of each season. Our fall season runs from mid September through mid November; our spring season runs from early April through mid June.
Is there a practice schedule?
As our league is volunteer organization, we ask our coaches to follow our guideline of “one practice per week.” Our U5 and U6 divisions practice as a group for approximately 30 minutes proior to game time. Both practice and games are held on the same day at the same time for these players. Our u7/8 players will have practice once per week, as identified by the coach of their team. Practice dates, times and locations are at the discretion of the coaches. We hold permits to a majority of the Lindenhurst soccer fields as well as Shore Road and Venetian Shores Parks. Practices are usually held on these properties during our permitted times. The league also offers to all u7/8 players an additional night of practice to sharpen their foot skills on Thursday Nights. The league secures the services of US Academy of Soccer to assist in training our players. Training for Thursday Night sessions will be held at the US Acacemy of Soccer Indoor facility on Conklin Road in Farmingdale.
Can I request a specific coach or team for my child?
We do not honor placement requests for either coach or teams.
What if I register my child and she does not like soccer. Can I get a refund?
No. Our league policy is that we do not offer refunds on registration or travel fees.
