Intramural Questions & Answers
How Do I Register my Child?
There are two ways to register. You can register online through the link above or you can register your child at our walk-in date. Online registration will accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Cash and checks will only be accepted at our walk-in registration dates. You are able to download the registration forms from our website and complete ahead of time. If this is the first time registering with our league, you will be required to submit a copy of your child’s birth certificate which will be kept in our league office when you pickup your child’s uniform.
What does my registration fee entail?
Our registration fee covers playing seasons for both the Fall ‘10 season (September – November) and the Spring ‘11 (April – June 2011) seasons. Our intramural players will receive a Lindenhurst Soccer trophy at the end of the spring 2011 season. All Intramural players are eligible to participate in our Wednesday Night training sessions at one of our home fields no additional cost. (See our Training page for further details!) Our league newsletter, the Lindy Kicker, will be sent to your home during the spring and fall seasons to keep you updated on news and upcoming events around our league. Our U7/U8 players will be able to sign up for tournament teams to participate in throughout the year. These teams will be put together to participate in a tournaments. The goal of these teams are to let our younger players get a taste of “tourney” teams. There are no tryouts for these teams, signup and registrations only. The teams will be developed through participation of the players and parental volunteers. The cost of registration will cover the indoor tournament fees . More information will be forthcoming in late October from our Tournament Directors.
What equipment is required for my child to play?
Each child must wear shin guards to each practice as well as each game. Before the start of each game the referee will check to insure that each child is wearing shin guards. A league uniform is required for each player at the games. Soccer cleats are recommended but not required. No baseball or football cleats are allowed at any time. Sweatshirts/sweatpants are permitted under the uniform, however, no hooded sweatshirts are allowed. No jewelry or earrings (even pierced) are allowed during game time.
Does my child need to bring a soccer ball to practice and if so, what size is needed?
A soccer ball should be brought to all practices. Children in the U5-U6 will play with a Size 3 ball which is approximately 23″ – 24″ round; U7-8 players will use a size 4 ball.
My child played with the league last year, do I need a new uniform?
No. However, if you need replacement pieces, they can be ordered separately through our website or at one of our walk-in registration dates. The cost of a uniform package is $30 per player. This includes one pair of league shorts, one league shirt and one pair of soccer socks. Pricing – NOTE: Players moving from the Intramural to Interleague divisions (beginning at the U9 age group) will need to purchase an additional “away” shirt.
When and where are games played?
Our Intramural Division play at our fields in Shore Road Park. Games are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays. Schedules are provided at the beginning of each season. Our fall season runs from mid September through mid November; our spring season runs from early April through mid June.
Is there a practice schedule?
As our league is volunteer organization, we ask our coaches to follow our guideline of “one practice per week.” Practice dates, times and locations are at the discretion of the coaches. We hold permits to a majority of the Lindenhurst soccer fields as well as Shore Road and Venetian Shores Parks. Practices are usually held on these properties during our permitted times.
Can I request a specific coach or team for my child?
We do not commit to honoring placement requests. Starting in the U6 Division and up, teams are formed by placing players according to their prior coaches’ assessment of their skill set. This assists us in forming teams as evenly as possible. If your child has never played before, they will be placed on the next team in need of a player in their age group.
