Update 10/16/2024

There was an amazing showing of support at last nights Village Board Meeting.

Thank you to all the players, parents, and coaches who attended. It was standing room only with a large crowd outside the room and down the stairs.

Without your help this project would not be possible.

At the end of the meeting, the Village Board voted to approve the lighting project!

We will keep you posted via this website and social media of the progress. We could see some work begin before the end of the year!

Dear Members of LJSSL and the Lindenhurst Community,

Please join us at the Village of Lindenhurst Board Meeting on Tuesday October 15th 2024, 7:30pm at Village Hall to discuss the importance of installing lights on our soccer fields. This project will benefit nearly 800 children who use these fields over the fall and spring soccer seasons. As many of you know, the fields are a hub of activity, fostering physical fitness, teamwork, and community engagement. By adding lights, we can extend the use of the fields, allowing several teams adequate practice space and hosting small sided games during the early evening hours, especially as daylight becomes limited.

I want to address a few important points regarding the proposed lighting system. First, the lights we’re considering are not nearly as tall as those used for the baseball fields, and they’re designed to illuminate only about half of the soccer field. This ensures that the lighting is focused where it’s needed, without flooding the entire area. Additionally, the lights will have special visors to direct them away from nearby residences, preventing any unwanted glare or disruption to the privacy and comfort of our neighbors.

The soccer club is also committed to being good stewards of the community. Practices will be limited to end by 9 p.m., so there won’t be any late-night disturbances, ensuring that both the children and local residents can continue to enjoy peaceful evenings.

In short, this lighting proposal is a thoughtful solution that balances the needs of our community’s youth with the concerns of local residents. It will create more opportunities for safe, organized play, while respecting the needs of our neighborhood.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
